Sanitary waste collection cost: what firms publish, per bin per year
Updated
Sanitary waste collection costs £65 to £139.20 a bin a year from the UK firms that print a price on their own page, with a median of £82.45, read on 27 October 2026. What you pay depends on how many bins you have, how often they are emptied, the contract term and the extras a firm adds.
The published prices
We read 40 firms' own pages; 4 publish an annual price per bin, from Rejus at £65 a unit to Hygiene+ at £139.20 a year for its no-contract disposable bins. The other 36 quote after a survey or a form (every row, with its source).
What moves the price
- Number of bins
- Most firms price per bin, so ten bins cost close to ten times one; ask whether the rate falls at volume.
- Collection cycle
- Monthly is the common cycle; fortnightly or weekly adds visits and cost.
- Contract term
- Longer terms carry lower rates and longer lock-ins; ask about the annual rise and the notice period.
- Paperwork
- Some firms charge for a duty of care or waste transfer certificate; others include it.
The paperwork you are paying for
The producer of the waste has a duty of care under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 until it reaches an authorised person, and keeps a waste transfer note for 2 years (gov.uk). A carrier must be registered (gov.uk, waste carrier registration), so a quote from an unregistered collector is not a saving.
Published figures are what each firm advertises on its own page, read on 27 October 2026; they are not a quote for your premises.
